Apeks

Apeks builds diving equipment in the UK for people who dive hard and often. This is the range we stock: XTX, XL4, MTX and EVX regulators, Exotec and WTX buoyancy systems, RK fins, VX masks, ThermiQ thermal protection, Lifeline reels and Luna torches. Recreational divers buy Apeks because it lasts. Technical and cold-water divers buy it because it keeps working when conditions stop being forgiving. Oyster Diving is an authorised Apeks dealer with in-house servicing.

Which Apeks regulator fits your diving?

Cold water, travel weight and sidemount setups all point you toward different first stages. Filter the regulator range by Apeks to compare the XTX, XL4, MTX and EVX families side by side, or speak to our technicians before you commit. We would rather talk you into the simpler option than sell you more regulator than your diving needs.

What Oyster stocks from Apeks

Apeks is a British manufacturer, and this page is the whole of what we hold from them: regulators, buoyancy systems, exposure protection, fins, masks, torches, reels and the small hardware that keeps a set of kit working. It is one of the few brands where you can build a complete dive setup from a single manufacturer and have all of it serviced in one place.

Regulators

Regulators are the deepest part of the range. The XTX50 is the long-standing all-rounder and also comes as a sidemount set. The XL4+ is the compact option, with the XL4 Ocea alongside it, built from recycled materials and bio-plastics in a solar-powered factory and using lead-free brass. The MTX-RC and MTX-R Sidemount are the cold-water and technical choices, and the MTX-RC is also sold as a made-up single cylinder set. The EVX200 and EVX Tungsten are the newest additions, and the TEK3 rounds out the technical end. Across the cold-water models the pattern is the same: an environmentally sealed first stage, a heat-exchange body, and controls big enough to find with dry gloves on.

Buoyancy and harness

The Exotec is the BCD people ask about. Its backplate is articulated so it pivots at the waist and moves with you rather than against you, and it pairs the Wrapture harness with the SureLock II mechanical weight release. The Exotec-S is the other Exotec option here. If you dive a modular setup, the WTX Harness and the WTX D30 Complete Wing let you pick plate, harness and wing separately instead of buying one fixed unit.

Exposure protection, fins and hardware

ThermiQ is the thermal line: semi-dry and neoprene wetsuits in men's and women's cuts, dive boots, a carbon core top, and the ThermiQ Dry drysuit, which uses a flexible neck ring and user-replaceable wrist seals so routine maintenance does not mean sending the suit away. Fins run RK3, RK3 HD and RK4. The rest is working hardware you will actually reach for: VX1 and VX2 masks, Luna torches, Lifeline reels and spools, surface marker buoys, the TEK Gauge, Tech Shorts, a roller bag and Comfo-bite mouthpieces.

Why divers keep buying Apeks

Two reasons come up again and again in the shop. The first is cold water. Sealing the first stage and building heat exchange into the body is not a marketing flourish in British diving. It is the difference between a regulator that behaves in February and one that does not.

The second is that Apeks is repairable kit. These regulators are designed to be stripped, serviced and brought back to spec, and we do that work in-house. A set bought years ago is usually worth servicing rather than replacing.

Matching Apeks kit to your diving

Warm water and travel

The XL4+ is the compact, lighter first stage and packs down well for a flight. The XL4 Ocea takes the same compact approach with the environmental credentials attached, and Apeks describes it as suitable for warm and cold water alike, so it is not a warm-water-only choice.

UK water, all year

This is where the MTX-RC earns its keep, along with the EVX200 and EVX Tungsten. Environmentally sealed first stages, heat-exchange bodies and an oversized breathing effort adjuster you can operate wearing thick gloves. If you shore dive through the winter, start here.

Technical and sidemount

The MTX-R Sidemount and the XTX50 Sidemount Set arrive configured for sidemount rather than needing converting. Run either with the WTX Harness and a wing rather than a jacket BCD, and add Lifeline spools and reels, a surface marker buoy and the TEK Gauge as the setup grows.

Buying Apeks from Oyster Diving

We are an authorised Apeks dealer, so everything on this page carries full manufacturer warranty and we can support it afterwards rather than pointing you elsewhere. If you are not certain which regulator or BCD suits you, tell us where you dive, how often, and what you are diving in now. We will narrow it down, including telling you when the simpler option is the right one. Servicing is done in-house by our technicians.

Frequently asked questions

Which Apeks ranges does Oyster Diving stock?

This is a single-brand page, so Apeks is the only vendor here. The ranges we hold are the XTX50 and XTX50 Sidemount Set, XL4+ and XL4 Ocea, MTX-RC, MTX-R Sidemount and the Single Cylinder MTX-RC Set, EVX200, EVX Tungsten and TEK3 regulators; Exotec and Exotec-S BCDs; the WTX Harness and WTX D30 Complete Wing; ThermiQ wetsuits, the ThermiQ Dry drysuit, dive boots and tops; RK3, RK3 HD and RK4 fins; VX1 and VX2 masks; Luna torches; Lifeline reels and spools; plus surface marker buoys, the TEK Gauge, Tech Shorts, a roller bag and Comfo-bite mouthpieces.

Are Apeks regulators suitable for UK cold water diving?

Yes, and much of the range is built around it. The MTX-RC, EVX200 and EVX Tungsten use environmentally sealed first stages with heat-exchange bodies, intended to keep water out of the mechanism and resist freezing in cold conditions. Apeks describes the XL4 Ocea first stage as suitable for both warm and cold water. If you dive through a British winter, the sealed models are the ones to look at first.

What is the difference between the Apeks Exotec and the WTX system?

The Exotec is a complete BCD you buy as one unit. Its backplate is articulated so it pivots at the waist and follows your movement, and it uses the Wrapture harness and the SureLock II mechanical weight release. The Exotec-S is the other Exotec option in the range. The WTX system is modular instead: you choose the WTX Harness and a wing such as the WTX D30 Complete Wing separately, which is the usual route for technical and twinset diving where you want to change parts independently.

Can Oyster Diving service my Apeks regulator?

Yes. We are an authorised Apeks dealer and service Apeks regulators in-house rather than sending them away. Bring the whole set in together, first stage, primary second stage, octopus and gauge, so the system is checked as one rather than piece by piece. Keeping the service schedule up to date is also what keeps a manufacturer warranty valid, so it is worth not letting it slip.

Which Apeks regulator should I choose when upgrading from my first set?

It depends on where you dive rather than on how much you spend. If most of your diving is warm water and travel, the XL4+ and XL4 Ocea are the compact, lighter choices. If you dive UK water year round, the MTX-RC, EVX200 and EVX Tungsten are the sealed, freeze-resistant step up. The XTX50 sits between the two as the long-standing all-rounder. For sidemount, the MTX-R Sidemount and XTX50 Sidemount Set come configured for it. Tell us where and how often you dive and we will narrow it down.
