Frequently asked questions
Which diver propulsion vehicle brands does Oyster Diving stock?
This is the SUEX brand page, so every scooter listed here is SUEX. The range covers the VR Series - VR Nemo, VR Quantum and VR Voyager - alongside the technical Goldfinder XJ and Goldfinder XK.
Which SUEX scooter suits a diver buying their first DPV?
The VR Nemo. SUEX position it for recreational divers, freedivers and snorkellers as well as first-time DPV users, and it uses the same eight-level speed regulator, Sport and Eco modes and cruise control as the rest of the VR Series. If you already dive technical profiles and want more power and endurance from the start, the VR Quantum is the better first purchase.
Can I take a SUEX scooter on a flight?
The VR Voyager is the model built for it - its battery pack complies with IATA UN38.3, which allows it to be carried in cabin luggage. Airline policies still vary, so check with your carrier before you book and allow extra time at check-in to explain what you are carrying.
What is the difference between the Goldfinder XJ and the Goldfinder XK?
Power and endurance against weight. The XK runs a 36V 1340Wh battery and a maximum speed of 100 metres per minute; the XJ runs a 25.2V 940Wh battery and a maximum of 90 metres per minute. Without the battery fitted the XK weighs 17 kg and the XJ 14 kg. Both are aluminium-bodied, neutrally trimmed and share the same depth rating, so the choice comes down to whether your dive plans need the XK's extra range or the XJ's easier handling.
Can a VR Series scooter be upgraded later?
Yes. The VR Series is modular and the battery nose section is interchangeable, so you can change the configuration as your diving develops rather than buying a second scooter. Each unit also has an integrated Picatinny mount for cameras, lights or accessories, an external charging system and an LED battery indicator, and the ring and mount can be specified in grey, red, fuchsia, orange, green or blue.
