The Bare wetsuit range

Wetsuits are the bulk of what we stock from Bare, and the range runs right across the thicknesses rather than clustering at one end. There are 3mm and 3/2mm suits for warm water, 5mm as the everyday choice, and 7mm for genuinely cold work.

Women's fits: Nixie, Elate and Evoke

The Nixie and the Elate each run the full spread of 3/2mm, 5mm and 7mm, so you can stay in one cut as your diving moves from holidays to UK water. The Evoke sits alongside them in 5mm. These are women's patterns rather than unisex suits relabelled, which is the difference between a suit that seals at the small of the back and one that flushes there.

Men's and unisex fits: Velocity Ultra, Revel and Reactive

The Velocity Ultra is stocked in 3mm and 5mm. The Revel spans 3/2mm, 5mm and 7mm and is the workhorse of the group — the one to look at if you want a single suit covering a summer season here and a trip abroad. The Reactive rounds the range out.

Bare drysuits: the Aqua-Trek family

Three Aqua-Trek suits sit on this page: the Aqua Trek Evo, the Aqua-Trek 1 Pro Dry and the Aqua-Trek 1 Tech Dry. If you dive here year round, this is where the decision stops being about neoprene thickness and starts being about staying dry.

What separates the three comes down to material, seals and valve specification, and each product page sets its own out. Read them properly — a drysuit is a longer commitment than a wetsuit and far harder to swap later. Talk to us about undersuits and boot sizing at the same time, because they are part of the same decision rather than an afterthought.

Boots and hoods that finish the system

Exposure protection fails at the edges first — wrists, ankles and head. Bare's S-Flex boots come in 5mm and 7mm, the Ultrawarmth boots do the same, and there is a 3mm Bare neoprene hood here as well. If you have gone to 7mm on the suit, matching the boots and adding a hood is not an upsell, it is the rest of the same job.

Fin sizing shifts once you are in a thicker boot, so factor that in before you order fins to go with a new suit.

Which thickness of Bare wetsuit should I choose?

Work back from where you actually dive. The 3mm and 3/2mm suits — Nixie, Elate, Revel and the Velocity Ultra — are the warm-water and summer shore-dive choice. The 5mm suits are the general-purpose pick and the thickness most of our customers end up in. The 7mm Nixie, Elate and Revel are for cold water, and most divers pair one with a hood and thicker boots. If you are diving UK water through the year rather than around it, look at the drysuits instead — a thicker wetsuit is not the same answer.

Does Bare make women's-specific wetsuits?

Yes, and a large share of the range on this page is cut for women rather than scaled down from a men's pattern. The Nixie and the Elate both run in 3/2mm, 5mm and 7mm, and the Evoke is stocked in 5mm. The cut matters more than most people expect: a suit that gapes at the small of the back or bunches across the chest will flush water through it whatever the neoprene thickness says on the label.

How do I get the size right?

Neoprene only works when it is genuinely close-fitting, so ordering by your usual clothing size is the most common and most expensive mistake we see. Use the Bare size chart on each product page and measure yourself rather than estimating. If you fall between two sizes, or you are buying a drysuit where undersuit thickness changes everything, call or email us before you order. Our staff dive this kit and would far rather sort the fit out beforehand than process a return afterwards.
