What sets Stahlsac apart

Every Stahlsac bag we stock is a dive bag, and the range reflects a handful of consistent decisions rather than a scattered catalogue. Most of these bags separate wet gear from dry. The Steel wheeled bags are built to airline size and weight requirements, use a combination of 630D and 420D fabric with a DWR finish, and reinforce the corners and stress points with Hypalon and tarpaulin.

Frames and wheels are replaceable rather than sealed in, which matters more than it sounds. A roller that loses a wheel mid-trip is a write-off if the frame is bonded shut. On the 22″ Steel Carry-On Bag and the 27″ and 34″ Steel Wheeled Bags, frame components and wheels can be swapped, and those three carry a limited lifetime warranty.

Choosing by how you travel

Full kit, long-haul

If you travel with your own regulator, BCD, suit and fins, you need a full-size bag. The 34″ Steel Wheeled Bag is the largest here, with a sealed water-resistant compartment, all-terrain wheels and an add-a-bag strap for clipping a second bag on at the airport. The Caicos Cargo Pack is the alternative if you prefer a high-profile frame and plenty of pockets, and its full-length side pockets take XL fins. The Curacao Clipper splits into a bottom compartment for a complete dive setup and an upper one for clothes and accessories.

Short trips and hand luggage

The 27″ Steel Wheeled Bag carries the same features as the 34″ in a mid-size shell and suits a short dive holiday. For the cabin, the 22″ Steel Carry-On Bag pairs a low-profile frame with the same wet and dry split, and the Steel Duffel Bag converts between duffel and backpack. The Molokini Regulator Bag is the one to keep on your shoulder: a regulator setup, a dive computer or console in its neoprene holder, a laptop sleeve, and an outside pocket for passport and log book, with an external sleeve that slides over a roller handle.

Boat days and the beach

For a day boat, a shore dive or a snorkel, the mesh backpacks are all you need. The Panama Mesh Backpack is the long-standing two-strap design, with padded shoulder straps, duffel handles and a zippered dry pocket inside paired with a wet pocket outside. The B.V.I Mesh Backpack is the lighter single-strap version for slinging across your body. Both use snag-resistant polyester mesh over a reinforced PVC bottom. The Abyss Duffels sit apart from the rest: fully waterproof double-TPU nylon with RF-welded seams, removable straps that turn the duffel into a backpack, and a choice of three sizes.

Wet gear and dry clothes

Stahlsac call it WETDRY, and it is the most useful thing about the range. The Steel wheeled bags put a waterproof compartment underneath for soaked kit and a breathable compartment on top so damp layers can air out while you travel. Water-resistant zips keep spray and rain out, and a bright interior lining means you can find a mask strap or a torch without emptying the bag onto a wet deck.

The mesh backpacks solve the same problem differently. Mesh drains and dries, so a suit and boots can go straight in after a dive rather than sitting in their own water on the drive home. Rinse the bag with the gear still inside it and hang the lot up together.

Looking after a Stahlsac bag

Salt is what kills dive bags, not mileage. Rinse the zips and mesh in fresh water after a trip, let everything dry fully open before it goes away, and empty the wet compartment the day you get home rather than the following week. If a wheel or a frame section does give up on one of the Steel bags, talk to us about parts before you replace the whole bag.
