The GoPro range at Oyster Diving

GoPro sits at the point where an action camera is small enough that you forget you are carrying it, and good enough that the footage is worth keeping. This page holds our whole GoPro line: five cameras, plus the housings, mounts, power and care items that go with them. It is a single-brand collection, so everything here is built to work with everything else.

The HERO cameras

The HERO13 Black is the current flagship and the most capable of the group, with the HB-Series lens system behind it. The HERO12 Black is the previous flagship and still a serious camera. The HERO11 Black Mini trades the front screen and some controls for a smaller, simpler body that mounts into places the full-size cameras will not go. The plain HERO is the smallest and most straightforward way in.

The MAX

The GoPro MAX is a different proposition. It shoots 360 as well as working in HERO mode, so you can film the whole dive and choose your framing later, on dry land. If you have ever surfaced knowing you pointed the camera the wrong way at the wrong moment, that is the problem it solves.

Taking a GoPro underwater

A GoPro is sealed from the factory, and for snorkelling that is usually enough on its own. Scuba is a harder environment, and a housing is what stands between the camera and the water once pressure starts working on every seal and button.

Housings

We stock the GoPro Dive Housing for the HERO11 Black Mini, and the GoPro Protective Housing, which adds impact protection alongside its seal against water, dust and grit. Housings are cut for specific bodies, so match the housing to the camera you actually own rather than the one you are thinking about buying.

Condensation

The commonest way to ruin underwater footage is not flooding, it is fog. Warm, damp air sealed inside a housing condenses on the port as soon as the outside goes cold. GoPro Anti-Fog Inserts absorb it. Load them somewhere dry rather than on a wet boat deck, and bring spares.

Mounts, power and the small stuff

Cameras get the attention, but the accessories are usually what decide whether a dive produces anything usable.

Holding the camera

The GoPro Shorty mini extension pole tripod is the compact option: short enough to stay clipped to you, and useful as either a handle or a small stand. The GoPro Extension Pole with Waterproof Shutter Remote gives you reach and a trigger you can work while wearing gloves, which matters more than it sounds once your hands are cold.

Power and protection

Cold water is hard on batteries, so carry more than you think you need. We stock the GoPro Enduro battery on its own and as the Enduro 2-Pack for HERO13 Black. GoPro Floaty keeps a detached camera at the surface where you can still retrieve it, and the GoPro Casey is the case that stops the whole kit rattling loose in a bag.
