Buying guide
Get the seal right, then pick the snorkel top
A set only works if the mask seals. Hold it to your face without the strap, breathe in gently through your nose and let go — if it stays put on its own, the skirt suits your face shape. After that, size honestly: the TUSA Splendive is cut for adult small to medium faces, and the Mini Kleio and Beuchat Oceo Junior are made for children rather than being shrunken adult masks. Then choose the top for where you will actually swim. A dry top, as on the TUSA Serene and Visio Tri-Ex, suits duck-diving down for a closer look. A semi-dry top or splash guard, as on the TUSA Elite and X-Plore, the Mares Combo WAHOO and the Beuchat Oceo sets, is plenty for swimming on the surface. If you are stuck between two, ring the shop and we will talk it through.

Frequently asked questions
Which mask and snorkel set brands does Oyster Diving stock?
We stock mask and snorkel sets from TUSA, Mares, Aqualung and Beuchat. TUSA makes up most of the range, with the Splendive, Serene, Visio Tri-Ex, Elite, X-Plore and Mini Kleio sets. Mares is represented by the Combo WAHOO, Aqualung by the Nabul Combo, and Beuchat by the Oceo sets in adult and junior versions.
What is the difference between a dry top, a semi-dry top and a splash guard?
A dry top seals the tube when it goes under, so you can duck-dive without flooding it. The TUSA USP-250 snorkel on the Serene and Visio Tri-Ex sets uses TUSA's patented Hyperdry Elite dry top, and the Mini Kleio's USP-220 works the same way. A semi-dry top, as on the TUSA Elite and X-Plore sets and the Mares Combo WAHOO, cuts down water coming in over the top at the surface without fully sealing. A splash guard, as on the Beuchat Oceo sets, deflects surface chop. All of these sets have a purge valve at the base, so one firm breath out clears the tube.
Do you stock mask and snorkel sets for children?
Yes, two of them. The TUSA Mini Kleio dry snorkel set is made for children aged 6 to 12 and pairs the UM-2000 youth mask with the USP-220 dry snorkel. The Beuchat Oceo Junior set uses a smaller silicone skirt and a mouthpiece sized for smaller mouths. Buy for the face, not the age on the box: an adult mask will not seal on a child, and a leaking mask is the quickest way to put a child off snorkelling.
Can I use a mask and snorkel set for scuba diving as well?
The masks are proper dive masks — the TUSA sets use ClearVu tempered glass lenses and the Beuchat Oceo masks use tempered glass too — so most will happily go on a scuba dive. The snorkel is the part to think about. A tall dry-top snorkel strapped to your mask adds drag underwater, so plenty of divers keep the set's snorkel for surface swims and clip a smaller folding snorkel to their BCD instead. If you are buying mainly for scuba, look at our scuba diving masks as well.
Can I get a set that takes corrective lenses?
Some of them. The TUSA Splendive set is built around the TM-7500 Splendive II mask, which accepts TUSA corrective lenses. The other sets here are sold as fixed combos and are not designed for lens swaps. If corrective lenses matter to you, contact us before you order and we will tell you what is possible with the mask you have in mind.
