Most dive computer screens make you squint. The Nautic does not. Its 3.26 inch AMOLED is the brightest display Suunto has put on a dive computer, and in our experience it stays readable in murky UK water as easily as in tropical sun.
This is a full-size, console-style computer that grows with your diving. It runs single-gas, multi-gas and sidemount modes with full decompression support and up to five gas mixes, so it starts simple for recreational diving and keeps up when you move towards technical training.
Battery life is the other headline. Up to 120 hours of dive time per charge is at the very top of our dive computers range, and it means a week on a liveaboard without carrying a charger.

Three purchase options, and one of them matters
The Nautic comes as a bungee cord mount, an elastic textile strap, or a bungee mount bundled with a Suunto Tank POD. Wireless tank pressure needs the POD, so choose the bundle if you want air integration from day one rather than buying the transmitter separately later.

A screen you can actually read at depth
The AMOLED display is the headline feature for good reason. Dive data is large, colour-coded and legible at a glance, so you spend less time staring at your console and more time watching your buddy and your buoyancy. In cold water with thick gloves and a hood, that clarity is worth more than any spec on the sheet.
Battery life that outlasts the trip
120 hours per charge means a week of four-dive days without thinking about power. Divers coming from computers that need nightly charging find this the single biggest quality-of-life change.
Sidemount mode as standard
Sidemount handling with dual transmitter support is built in rather than bolted on. Being able to see both cylinders independently on that screen is exactly what sidemount divers want, and few computers at this price do it properly.
Set up and serviced by us
Five gas mixes and a sidemount configuration is a lot to get wrong. Every dive computer we sell can be serviced in-house at our UK dive centre, and we will pair your POD and configure the modes with you before your first dive on it.
Features that matter underwater
Dual transmitter air integration
Two Tank PODs means independent pressure from two cylinders, which is the requirement for sidemount and useful for a stage setup. Pressure sits on the same large display as your deco information rather than on a separate screen.
Up to five gas mixes with full decompression
Enough for a normoxic technical progression with multiple deco gases. The Nautic will follow you from recreational nitrox through to serious decompression diving without needing replacing.
Built-in LED flashlight
Small, and more useful than it sounds. It will not replace a primary torch, but for reading a slate, checking a gauge or finding a clip in the dark it saves reaching for a backup light.
GPS and digital compass
Surface GPS for entry and exit points, and a proper digital compass for underwater navigation. On a shore dive in unfamiliar water, both earn their place.
This is a full-size console computer
The 3.26 inch screen is the reason to buy the Nautic and also the reason it is not a watch. It will not pass as everyday wear. If you want something to wear to work as well as dive, look at the Suunto Ocean or a Garmin Descent instead.
Where the Nautic sits against the alternatives
Against a Shearwater Perdix, the Nautic wins clearly on display quality and adds GPS and a flashlight. The Shearwater wins on the user-replaceable AA battery, which matters if you dive remote locations where charging is unreliable.
Against Suunto's own Ocean, this is the bigger, more capable, less wearable option. The Ocean is a watch. The Nautic is an instrument. Five gas mixes against two, and sidemount support, is the practical difference.
Against a Garmin Descent X50i, the two are closely matched on screen and capability. Garmin has SubWave diver messaging. Suunto has the longer battery life and the lower price. Neither is wrong, and we sell plenty of both.

Who it may not be for: anyone wanting a computer that doubles as a daily watch, and anyone who dives somewhere remote enough that a rechargeable battery is a liability. In that second case, a Shearwater on AA cells is the safer buy.
Getting the best from it
A computer this configurable rewards ten minutes of setup before the first dive.
- Pair the Tank POD on the surface and confirm it holds a reading before you get in, not at 20 metres.
- Set your gradient factors deliberately. The defaults are reasonable, but they are not the same as the ones your training agency taught you.
- Configure the display so your most-needed data is largest. The Nautic gives you the screen space to do this properly.
- If you are diving sidemount, set both transmitters and confirm which cylinder is which before you kit up.
- Charge fully before a trip. 120 hours is a lot, but it is not infinite.

Does the Suunto Nautic come with a transmitter?
Only in the bundle option. Two of the three purchase options are the computer with a mount and no Tank POD. If you want wireless tank pressure from day one, choose the bungee and Tank POD bundle.
Can the Suunto Nautic be used for sidemount diving?
Yes, and it is one of the better choices for it. Sidemount mode is built in and it supports two transmitters, so you get independent pressure from both cylinders on one screen.
