Frequently asked questions
Which eLearning brands does Oyster Diving stock?
PADI, and only PADI. Every course in this collection is an official PADI eLearning programme: Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver and ReActivate. You study the official PADI materials, and the certification at the end is a PADI certification.
Does the eLearning include the in-water training?
No. Every course on this page is the theory portion only. When you finish the online modules you receive a digital certificate of completion for the theory. The certification card itself is issued by a PADI instructor once you have completed the in-water training. You can book that part with us.
I have not dived for years. Do I have to start again?
No. PADI ReActivate is the course for this. It reviews the core material you already learned once, including dive planning, buoyancy control, equipment setup and emergency procedures, without putting you back through Open Water. Do the online part first, then book a skills review session in the water with a PADI instructor.
Can I do the theory at home before a dive trip?
That is the main reason people buy it on its own. The lessons, videos, quizzes and knowledge reviews are self-paced and work on any device, so you can get the theory out of the way in the weeks before you travel and spend the trip in the water rather than in a classroom.
Which course comes after Open Water?
Advanced Open Water is the usual next step. Its knowledge development covers five Adventure Dives, with Deep and Navigation required and three more that you choose. After that, Rescue Diver focuses on preventing and managing diving emergencies, and it is required for anyone working towards PADI Divemaster or Instructor.
