The AA battery is the point, not a compromise
Every other computer at this price is rechargeable. The Perdix 2 Ti deliberately is not. If you dive liveaboards, expeditions, or anywhere the power is unreliable, being able to swap a cell in two minutes is worth more than a sealed rechargeable pack. If you only ever dive from home, this matters less.

Full colour display with colour-coded warnings
Warnings change colour rather than hiding in a corner. In task-loaded moments, colour is processed faster than text, which is exactly what you want when something needs attention.
Five gases, open and closed circuit
Trimix, multiple decompression gases, and closed circuit with fixed setpoint are all supported. This is a full technical computer, not a recreational one with a technical mode.
Dual O-ring battery cap
Two O-rings on the battery cap, because the battery compartment is the one deliberate opening in the case. It is the detail that makes a user-replaceable battery safe rather than a flood risk.
Adaptive menus
The menu only shows what is relevant to the mode you are in. It sounds minor and it is the reason the interface stays clean despite the capability underneath.
Not a smartwatch, and not trying to be

What battery does the Shearwater Perdix 2 Titanium use?
A single AA cell, user-replaceable, giving up to 130 hours of dive time at medium brightness. Lithium AAs give the best life and cold-water performance.
Can the Perdix 2 Ti be used for closed circuit rebreather diving?
Yes. It supports closed circuit with fixed setpoint alongside open circuit, and handles up to five gases including trimix, so it works as a CCR primary or a bailout computer.
What is the difference between the Perdix 2 and the Perdix 2 Titanium?
The titanium version uses a titanium case rather than the standard housing. Function is the same. The titanium resists knocks and corrosion better, which matters if the computer lives on a technical rig.
Does the Perdix 2 Ti have air integration?
It supports Shearwater wireless transmitters, sold separately. As with the rest of the range, transmitters are not included in the box.
Is the Perdix 2 Ti worth it over a Garmin Descent?
For technical diving, yes. Clearer interface, adjustable gradient factors and a swappable battery are what technical divers want. For recreational diving with GPS and daily wear, the Garmin is better value and we will say so.
Can I set my own gradient factors?
Yes, and you should. The Perdix uses Bühlmann ZHL-16C with fully user-adjustable gradient factors, so you can dive the conservatism your training agency specified.
Buying the Perdix 2 Ti
This is the computer we put on our own technical instructors' wrists, and the one we recommend without hesitation to anyone diving decompression profiles. It does not do GPS, steps or notifications, and that is precisely the point.
If you are heading into technical training, or you already dive deco and want a primary that will not let you down somewhere remote, this is the safest money you can spend on a computer.
