XDEEP Radical Mask – Large
This is the Radical L, the original full-size version of XDEEP's frameless mask. If you have an average or wider face, or you've found smaller low-volume masks press on your cheekbones or the bridge of your nose, this is the size to start with.
The soft silicone skirt is bonded straight to the lens with no rigid frame, so the glass sits close to your eyes. You get a wide view with fewer blind spots, and very little air to clear or equalise. We like it as a main mask for UK diving and as a backup, because it folds flat into a BCD or harness pocket.
Narrower face? XDEEP makes the Radical in two sizes. The Radical S is around 15% smaller and suits narrower faces, many women and younger divers. See the XDEEP Radical Mask – Small.
Large or Small: which Radical fits you?
| This page | Radical L (Large) |
|---|---|
| Best for | Average to wider faces |
| Other size | Radical S, around 15% smaller, for narrower faces |
| Price | The same for both sizes |
The quickest fit check: hold the mask against your face without the strap and breathe in gently through your nose. If it stays put with no gaps at the temples or under the nose, it fits. If the skirt edge sits on your cheekbones or leaves a gap at the sides, try the other size.
What it does in the water
The frameless design keeps the lens close to your eyes, which widens your field of view and keeps internal volume low. Less air in the mask means less to clear and less to equalise on descent.
XDEEP leaves extra room around the nose pocket, so pinching to equalise is easy, including in thick drysuit gloves. The strap and buckles are designed to be gripped and adjusted with gloves on, wet or dry.
The lens is clear, untinted glass with no green cast, so colours look natural. The low profile also sits neatly under a hood.
