Oyster Diving Shark Neoprene Mask Strap Cover
A silicone mask strap pulls hair every time you take your mask off, and it's the first thing to tangle in a hood. Our shark strap cover slips over the strap and fixes both problems in one go.
It's our own design: a white reef shark cruising over seagrass with a few striped reef fish, printed on royal blue neoprene with black bound edges and the Oyster Diving logo on top. It's also the easiest way to tell whose mask is whose on a crowded kit bench.

Why divers choose the shark strap cover
No more pulled hair
Bare silicone grips hair, especially when it's wet or salty. The neoprene sleeve sits between the strap and your head, so the mask slides off cleanly at the end of a dive instead of taking a few strands with it. Divers with long hair notice this on the first dive.
More comfortable over a long day
A thin silicone strap concentrates pressure on the back of your head. The wider neoprene band spreads it out, which you'll appreciate on a two-dive boat day or a long pool session.
Your mask stands out from the hire kit
On a busy RIB or a club night, masks end up in the same rinse tank. A bright blue shark is hard to mistake for anyone else's black strap.

Neoprene sleeve construction
The strap threads straight through the sleeve. Neoprene stays soft and flexible in cold UK water, so the cover doesn't rub or dig in.
Bound edges
The black binding around the edge stops the neoprene fraying and keeps the shape once the cover is stretched over the strap.

The shark and reef artwork was drawn for Oyster Diving. You won't find it on anyone else's shelf.
Check the width of your current mask strap before ordering. Most standard silicone straps fit, but split straps and very wide straps on some full-face or frameless masks may not. If you're unsure, send us your mask model and we'll tell you.
Why choose the Oyster Diving shark strap cover
A strap cover is the cheapest comfort upgrade you can make to a mask you already own. You keep the silicone strap, the buckles and the fit you're used to, and add a soft layer on top.
If you'd rather replace the strap entirely, a fabric strap such as the TUSA Fabric Mask Strap does a similar job. The cover is the simpler option because nothing on the mask changes.

How to get the best from your strap cover
Fitting takes about a minute and doesn't need tools.
- Unclip one end of the silicone strap from the mask buckle.
- Thread the strap through the sleeve with the shark print facing out.
- Reattach the strap to the buckle and centre the cover at the back.
- Rinse in fresh water after every dive and dry it out of direct sunlight.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to take the strap off the mask to fit it?
Only one end. Unclip it from the buckle, thread it through the sleeve and clip it back in.
Will it fit my snorkel mask?
It fits most single silicone straps on scuba and snorkelling masks. Full-face snorkel masks with elastic or multi-point harnesses won't take it.
Does it make the mask any less secure?
No. The silicone strap still does the holding. The cover just sits on top of it.
Can I wear it under a hood?
Yes. Many UK divers wear the mask strap over the hood, but if you wear it under, the cover makes it easier to pull the hood off without dragging the mask with it.
How do I clean it?
Rinse it in fresh water with the rest of your kit and let it air dry.
