Divevolk

Divevolk makes underwater housings for the phone already in your pocket. Oyster Diving stocks the SeaTouch 4 Max Plus and the aluminium SeaTouch 4 Max Platinum, plus the Ocean Kit bundle, phone adapters, colour correction filters and lanyards. The touchscreen works straight through the membrane, so you keep your normal camera app underwater with no Bluetooth pairing. If your handset is not on the adapter list, we have one made to order.

Using your phone as an underwater camera

The case for a phone housing is simple. You already own the camera, you already know the app, and the screen is far larger than anything on an action camera, so framing a shot and checking it afterwards is easier. A SeaTouch is also a good deal less to handle than a full mirrorless or DSLR rig, which matters when you are managing buoyancy and a torch at the same time.

The SeaTouch works through a touch-sensitive membrane. You press the phone's own screen through it, so every control you already use stays exactly where it is. Nothing pairs over Bluetooth and nothing needs charging separately.

The two housings

SeaTouch 4 Max Plus

This is the standard housing and the one most people start with. It has an ergonomic grip handle with secure mounting points, it is light enough to travel with, and it comes in Divevolk Black, Dreamy Pink or Starlight Grey. Bought on its own it is a mid-range way into underwater shooting.

SeaTouch 4 Max Platinum

The premium option. The body is machined aluminium rather than polymer, and it carries a built-in lens adapter arm so you can mount wide-angle or macro optics without adding a separate clamp. An EVA protective carry case is included. Be aware that the phone adapter is not supplied with it and has to be chosen separately.

Adapters are the part people forget

The housing is universal. The adapter is the moulded insert that holds your specific handset, and it is the piece that makes the whole thing fit. Our SeaTouch 4 Max Plus Phone Adapters listing runs to a long list of supported models, covering recent flagships as well as a good number of older phones.

If your model is not on that list we can have an adapter manufactured to order, with express, standard and no-rush options depending on how soon you are diving. These are made rather than picked off a shelf, so allow extra time for delivery. If you are unsure, ask us before you order rather than after.

Building out the rest of the rig

Colour correction filters

Water strips colour as you descend, and which colour goes first depends on the water you are in. The Flame Red filter restores the reds lost in blue tropical water. The Magenta filter counteracts the green cast you get in lakes, rivers and algae-heavy coastal water. Both attach and detach from the SeaTouch 4 Max housing quickly enough to swap between dives.

The Ocean Kit

The Divevolk SeaTouch 4 Max Plus Ocean Kit is the assembled version of all of this. It pairs the housing with the Expansion Clamp, which gives you mounting points for trays and handles, wet lenses, filters and lights. A red filter and a wide-angle corrective lens are included, along with a cover that protects the touchscreen membrane and front port between dives, and a travel case to carry the lot.

Lanyards

A housing is a smooth object you will want to let go of at some point, usually to sort out a fin or a light. The Divevolk Seatouch 4 Max Outdoor Lanyard is adjustable and has a quick-release for fast detachment. The Divevolk Diving Equipment Coil Lanyard uses a bungee coil, clips to a BCD or harness, and fits most camera and phone housings rather than only the SeaTouch.

Looking after it

Treat the membrane and the front port as the parts that matter. The Ocean Kit's protective cover exists precisely because those surfaces get knocked about on a boat, before and after the dive rather than during it. Rinse the housing in fresh water when you are done, check the seal is clean and clear of hair and sand before every closure, and store it with the phone out. Housings rarely fail on their own; they fail because something was trapped in the seal.

Frequently asked questions

Does the touchscreen actually work underwater?

Yes. The SeaTouch housings use a flexible membrane over the screen, so you press the phone's own display through it and drive your normal camera app. There is no Bluetooth connection to pair and no separate set of housing buttons to learn. Divevolk notes that touchscreen response is rated shallower than the housing's own depth rating, so plan on framing and settings changes on the way down rather than at your deepest point.

Will my phone fit a SeaTouch housing?

The housing is universal; the adapter is what makes it phone-specific. Our SeaTouch 4 Max Plus Phone Adapters listing carries a long list of supported handsets, covering current flagships and a good spread of older models. If yours is not on that list, we can have a custom adapter manufactured to order, so allow extra time for delivery on those. Contact us before ordering if you want your model checked.

What is the difference between the SeaTouch 4 Max Plus and the SeaTouch 4 Max Platinum?

The SeaTouch 4 Max Plus is the standard housing, with an ergonomic grip handle, secure mounting points and a choice of Divevolk Black, Dreamy Pink or Starlight Grey. The SeaTouch 4 Max Platinum steps up to a machined aluminium body with a built-in lens adapter arm for mounting wide-angle or macro optics, and ships with an EVA protective carry case. Note that the Platinum does not include a phone adapter, which is bought separately.

Which colour correction filter should I choose?

It depends on the water, not the camera. The Flame Red filter is for blue water, where red is the first colour to disappear, so it suits tropical and offshore diving. The Magenta filter counteracts a green cast, which makes it the one for lakes, rivers and coastal water carrying algae. Both clip on and off the SeaTouch 4 Max housing, so carrying the pair means you are covered whichever water you end up in.

Which underwater phone housing brands does Oyster Diving stock?

This collection is Divevolk only. It covers the SeaTouch 4 Max Plus and SeaTouch 4 Max Platinum housings, the SeaTouch 4 Max Plus Ocean Kit, phone adapters, colour correction filters and two lanyard options. If you are shooting with a dedicated camera rather than a phone, our wider Camera Housings and Underwater Cameras collections cover the other manufacturers we carry.
