XDEEP Zeos 38 and Apeks MTX-RC Regulator Package

This package pairs the XDEEP Zeos 38 wing system with the Apeks MTX-RC regulator, an octopus and an Apeks pressure gauge, as one fixed rig at one price. It combines a comfortable, padded wing system with the most rugged regulator Apeks makes.

The Zeos 38 gives you 17kg (38lb) of lift in a donut-shaped wing with a padded back over the plate, so you get wing trim without the feel of a bare plate. The MTX-RC started life as a military specification regulator, built for cold water first. It is the rig for divers who want comfort in the wing and no compromises in the regulator.

The package is set up with a Deluxe harness and a black wing, with a DIN regulator, an alternate air source and an Apeks pressure gauge. Choose an aluminium backplate for travel or stainless steel for local diving above.

What's in the package

  • XDEEP Zeos 38 wing system: 17kg (38lb) black single cylinder wing, Deluxe harness, single tank adapter and your choice of aluminium or stainless steel backplate
  • Apeks MTX-RC first stage, DIN 300 bar
  • Apeks MTX-RC second stage, with two exhaust tees
  • Apeks alternate second stage (octopus)
  • Apeks pressure gauge with high-pressure hose

Not included: cylinder, dive computer and weights.

Why this pairing works

A regulator that does not freeze open

Cold water is where regulators fail, and they fail by freezing open. The MTX-RC first stage is environmentally sealed and over-balanced, which keeps water away from the moving parts and keeps intermediate pressure climbing with depth. It was designed against a military cold water standard.

Wing trim, with comfort built in

A back-mounted wing holds air behind you, so you sit flat in the water. The Zeos 38's donut-shaped wing spreads air evenly through the bladder for balanced trim and vents easily, and its padded back makes it comfortable on the boat as well as underwater.

Both halves are built to last

The Zeos 38's 1100 dTEX Cordura outer shell resists abrasion, tears and punctures, over a 440 dTEX nylon bladder. The MTX-RC's finish is designed to survive a boat deck rather than a display case. After several seasons of UK diving, both still work as they should.

Ready to grow with you

The MTX-RC's reversible second stage routes over either shoulder, so it carries over to twinset and sidemount configurations. Its diver-changeable exhaust comes with two tees; the larger one pushes bubbles wider, which helps photographers and anyone diving in low visibility.

Who this package is for

  • UK divers who dive through the winter and want a regulator built for cold water
  • Divers moving off a jacket BCD who want a wing that feels comfortable from day one
  • Single cylinder divers in wetsuits or drysuits
  • Divers moving towards technical training who want a regulator that carries over
  • Divers who value reliability over saving weight

Who it may not be for: if you dive twice a year somewhere warm and fly with your kit, the MTX-RC's weight is hard to justify. If you want the smoothest breathing and tidiest hose routing, the Zeos 38 and EVX200 package is the more refined choice.

Set up, tested and serviced in-house

A wing system rewards being set up once, properly. We fit the harness to the exposure suit you actually dive in, position the D-rings where your hands go, and route the inflator so the dump is easy to reach when you are flat. We route the regulator hoses and gauge, check the intermediate pressure and breathe-test the regulator. Both halves can be serviced in-house at our UK dive centre afterwards.

Coloured Miflex hoses can be chosen on the product page as an optional upgrade. Customers spending over £100 can also try their kit in the water at one of our five pool sites for free, with instructors present, which is the sensible way to settle your weighting before open water.

Frequently asked questions

Is 17kg of lift enough?

For single cylinder diving, including thicker wetsuits and drysuits, 17kg gives adequate buoyancy and control. If you regularly dive a heavy steel cylinder in a drysuit with extra kit and want more headroom, the XDEEP NX Zen wing gives you 19kg.

Is the MTX-RC in this package DIN or yoke?

DIN, rated to 300 bar. DIN is the standard for most UK cylinders and for technical diving. If you travel to destinations that use yoke valves, a DIN-to-yoke adapter covers you.

Why choose this package over the Zeos 38 and EVX200 package?

The MTX-RC is the more rugged regulator, built for the harshest conditions. The EVX200 breathes slightly more smoothly and routes its hoses better. Both are properly cold water rated, so choose on ruggedness or refinement.

How often does the MTX-RC need servicing?

Follow the Apeks stated interval to keep the warranty valid and cold water performance intact. We service Apeks in-house at our UK dive centre, so it does not need to be sent away.

Does the package include a gauge or dive computer?

The gauge is included: an Apeks pressure gauge with its high-pressure hose, fitted to the first stage. A dive computer isn't included, but we can fit an air-integrated transmitter when you buy one.

Buying the Zeos 38 and MTX-RC package

This is the rig we recommend to divers who want a comfortable wing and a regulator they can trust in any UK conditions. The regulator is not light and it was never meant to be. It will outlast several of the alternatives, and the Zeos 38 is easy to live with from the first dive.
